Anti Aging Skin Products

28 Oct

Several years ago I sold products called Arbonne. I began using these products religiously after having been sold them by a friend of mine.

While I no longer “sell” Arbonne, I do refill friends orders and continue using the products myself. I have tried a slew of other products both before my experience with Arbonne as well as after. I must admit though, that nothing I have tried compares to the results I have gotten from Arbonne products.

I have been using their RE9 line for several years now and find I am lost if I run out of product. The eye cream is addicting. It goes on so smoothly and I certainly can see a difference with fine lines under my eyes.

The day cream is nice too, although I prefer something with more SPF in it then SPF 8 which the RE9 cream contains. So I began using another one of their products called Revelage. It has an SPF of 30 and touts that it has the capabilities of lightening sun spots on your face. Since I began using it this past summer, I don’t really notice a huge change in the appearance of the dark spots, but I do notice a slight color change. I suppose I was expecting a mini miracle.

I recently just tried using The Galvanic Spa by NuSkin.  My friend, Actor Ian Ziering, introduced me to it and said it was “all the rage in Hollywood”.  I have to try something and see something that good to believe it.  After receiving my spa I dedicated a few minutes (which are hard to come by raising a young family) and tried using it.  I was surprised at how easy it was to use and how light weight and small the Galvanic Spa was.  After wetting my hand , applying the negative charged gel and using the spa, I felt my skin instantly feel more refreshed.  Then I wiped off the pre-treatment gel and applied the positive charged gel that penetrates deep under the kins surface and delivers light Galvanic pulses under the skin stimulating collagen production and adding moisture deep beneath the skin.  I instantly saw a lift in my brow and a softening of my wrinkles.  Some of my fine lines had indeed disappeared.  It was pretty cool and hard to believe.  I know now why it is “all the rage in Hollywood”.  You can find out more information here www.youthfulnaturally.com.  Ian did tell me that I could get a 30% discount on the item if I signed up as a distributor.  I told him I was not sure I wanted to sell the product, but that I just enjoyed using it!  He said I could still sign up and get the discount, so I did.  Although it may be a bit pricey at $290 for distributor cost, it sure was cheaper then having to go get facials every so often and cheaper when I think of it. Not to mention the Galvanic Spa will last for 5-6 years and runs on 2 AA batteries.  It will no doubt pay for itself. :)

If you happen to know of a better line, I’m all ears! Would love to try some new stuff. :)

Take caution with lipstick

28 Oct

Take caution when wearing lipstick or lip gloss during the day. Most lip products contain a reflective ingredient that gives your lips the shine after applying it to your lips. While that shine is what we are trying to achieve with it’s application it is also quite harmful for your lips.

You have heard that applying baby oil to your skin is not a healthy nor wise decision when out in the sun because it can promote sun damage or even skin cancer. Most lipsticks contain a form of baby oil, called mineral oil. It aides the sun in burning the thin, gentle skin on your lips increasing the cell breakdown and depletion of collagen. Collagen is what gives your lips their fullness. Without it we start to show signs of age with fine wrinkles around our lips. Most people don’t realize that wearing lipstick in the sun can cause premature aging. Next time you shop for lip products, be sure they contain an SPF of at least 30. There are some great products that are inexpensive out there. Maybelline and Cover Girl make one but the SPF is 15. Burts Bees has one with an SPF of 30. Color choices may be limited, but I’d rather be safe then sorry.

Power up on Power Foods

26 Jul

By Michael Mosier

Is there such a thing as a perfect food? We’ve heard of super-foods, but what about a food that is simply all-around good for you? There are some that would argue eggs are just such a food – and there are several others that certainly come close and that should be integrated into your anti-aging process to help you turn back the clock from the inside out.

Back to eggs. They are a great way of getting protein into your diet, and as long as you eat in moderation and don’t already have cholesterol problems, they won’t mess up your cholesterol levels. For ease in slipping them into just about any meal, keep some hard boiled eggs on hand for sandwiches, salads and much more.

 Tofu or tempeh

Many who aren’t used to tofu aren’t sure about incorporating it into their diet. It tends to get a bad rap in non-ethnic or non-vegetarian settings. And while you may not replace the meat in your meals with it, the good thing is that if you’re not sure about it, it’s relatively easy to disguise. It takes on the flavor of the rest of the food, but if you’re still not OK with the consistency, blend it up and put it in chilis, sauces and other liquid-based dishes.

Tofu and tempeh are both are high in protein, but they also have flavanoids,  which helps to decrease the amount of bad cholesterol you have.

Blueberries

Small but powerful, blueberries are the berries chock full of  antioxidants. They’re tasty by themselves and in a number of breakfast-based foods like cakes and breads, but to keep it simple eat them alone, or use them to top cereal.

By choosing to incorporate these foods into your diet you’ll be able to make changes that will taste great and hopefully have you looking and feeling better as you age!

Facial Flex Exerciser

30 Jun

Facial Flex Facial Exercise and Toning KitTired of all the creams, lotions, and skin treatments to help with wrinkles and sagging skin. I know I was. I had been seeing this product for awhile and always wanted to give it a try, even though, I was a bit unbelieving. But I must say I have had it for a little while and I can definitely tell the difference. The muscles from around my eyes to my lower neck are feeling the workout. How cool!! To think, this little contraption can do so much good. Very impressive!

The Facial Exerciser and Toning Kit helps restore lost muscle and also strengthens your cheek, chin and neck area. This pretty much means your face will be tighter and smoother after using this device. It also helps circulation which in turn gives you a beautiful glow to your skin. All of this and the product only costs 29.94. Pretty good deal to me. I ordered one and got one for my mom, too. I have nothing but good results. Let us know if you have used it and what you think of it!!

Reduce Wrinkles

14 May

image As we age, we start to worry more and more about wrinkles and aging. The worry about the wrinkles can often cause wrinkles itself. Many wrinkles come along with age, but some we often help out.

Squinting can cause repetitive facial movements that will form a ridge beneath the skin by overworking your muscles. This eventually leaves a wrinkle. If you have to squint, look into getting glasses. Glasses are far better a fashion statement than wrinkles.

Who would have thought that you can be enabling wrinkling while you sleep?! It’s a sad truth that those face lines you see when you awake, don’t all fade through the day. Side and face down lead to increased face wrinkles, it is best to sleep on back. For those of us just getting this crucial information, too lateSad, try a wrinkle cream to help fill those lines.

Don’t over wash your face. Washing your face with tap water strips the skin of nutrients. When you do wash, don’t use normal soap. Wash your face with a gentle cleanser or soap containing a moisturizer.

Things that you eat can also affect your skin. It was found that cocoa will actually lead to healthier feeling and looking skin. Soy, so popular these days, can help protect and firm the skin. Salmon assists in maintaining great skin. It contains omega-3, a fatty acid, that nourishes skin. Eating Salmon will keep skin plump and youthful.

You will also want to remember the old rituals of no smoking, moisturizing and sunscreen. Mother Nature is already gearing up to give you wrinkles, don’t help her out. Take care of your skin, you only get one shot at it.

The new eye cream…butter!

12 May

Well the idea of using butter as an eye cream in a pinch is not so new. Women in Ethiopia have been using butter as a beautifying agent for years. Ethiopian women have cherished pure organic butter for its skin smoothing capabilities.

Organic butter contain lactic acid which is an alpha hydroxy acid that draws water from the slower level of the skin into the top layer of the skin. This locks in the moisture and boosts cell production to keep skin looking healthy, refreshed and glowing.

Americas top models have used this method of eye cream when in a pinch and needing to freshen up. So next time you are out dining in a restaurant and feel an urge to freshen up, go to the restroom, and don’t forget the butter! ;)

Papaya and Pineapple = Cellulite and Wrinkle Free

12 May

Papaya and pineapple are both tropical fruits that has been known to get rid of wrinkles all together. They contain an enzyme called papain. Studies have been shown that prove that these two fruits can rid your face of wrinkles. Pineapple and papaya pickers have no fingerprints because the papain has smoothed their skin so much.

Well now a new study shows that those same enzymes in those two fruits also help get rid of cellulite. In Bali, the women scoop out the papaya flesh from inside the fruit and rub the peel on jiggly thighs to tighten and smooth them. Papaya and pineapple share the same powerful enzyme that stimulates collagen production and slough off the top layer of dead skin cells to reveal softer, smoother firmer skin. Massaging the papains into the skins surface in circular motions enhances circulation, bringing hydrating blood flow to cellulite prone areas, plumping skin and reducing dimples. With repeated use, the fruits Vitamin C strengthens skin to further reduce cellulite.

NO Botox …..please!

6 Mar

If you are like me, you hate the idea of being injected with botulism (botox), or of going under the knife to get rid of unsightly wrinkles. There is another way to eliminate wrinkles without using these desperate measures, and I found it!My friend told me about this product that is conveniently packaged in pen form that can be used anytime day or night. It works as a form of topical botox. This precise applicator pen delivers a formula that visibly reduces wrinkles and crows feet, best of all it is ONLY $45.Now we all know that those procedures I mentioned above are costly and the effects do not last a lifetime and must be repeated after some time. This filler is my very favorite product I own.  I cannot mention the name but if you email me I will happily tell you. Now if that is the case, then why not use something topical that you can apply yourself daily without spending a fortune? After trying a ton of these type of filler, I wanted to let you know, that if a product touts that you see results immediately, chances are those results will wash away the next time you wash your face. Wrinkle pens and fillers have to penetrate the skin and help fill in the wrinkles from the inside in order to have long term effects. I found that out the hard way, after spending a few hundred dollars in doing comparison testing with some friends, on a variety of these pens. This wrinkle filler I found is used like restilin, in that it plumps up the skin to minimize the look of wrinkles and crows feet. It has short and long term benefits. It contains liposomes that target the deeper layers of the skin and delivers nutrients to the area it is applied too. It was formulated with a new type of molecule that acts as a balloon of water. If you were to draw a circle and draw consecutive circles inside that one to form a series of ring, every other ring would contain water and the alternating ones would contain nutrients that act as magnets to draw moisture from other areas of the skin to the area of application thereby plumping up the skin minimizing wrinkles. Those rings I mentioned above also act on a time released basis, providing moisture and plumping the skin throughout the day, or night. This filler contains tri-peptides that condition and moisturize the skin while reducing the appearance of wrinkles. The formulation also includes alpha-lipoic acids, which are a universal anti-oxident that fights and neutralizes environmental free radicals, helping to protect your skin form the aging process. This formulation is approximately 500x more powerful then Vitamin C alone. And we all know that Vitamin C is a wonderful anti-oxident that helps us keep our youthful appearance when it is part of our skin care regimen.I have tried it, and although I was a skeptic when I first heard about it, after 3 days of using it about 2 times on average per day, I really do notice a difference in my wrinkles. I have that forehead, problem and a deep line between my eyes from squinting. Friends have noticed a difference too, and I did not have to spend a fortune of money to get the results I want. Now I have everyone trying that wrinkle pen!

Applying Makeup 101

12 Feb

All of my friends know that I am a product slut. Not in a bad way of course, I just LOVE trying new things and seeing the difference, if any it can make on my skin. Look I want to look young forever too you know. A friend of mine just recently asked me the proper way to apply a foundation her face. She suffers from patches of dry skin and has a classic t-zone situation going on as well. When she would apply a foundation to her skin, she found that the dry areas tended to “cake up” her foundation, while the other areas seemed to not have an even coverage. I suggested she start with a make up primer.

I recently tried a brand new released makeup primer from a skin care company that I love, Ask me which one!  This company touts that all of their skin care products, along with their cosemtics are pure, safe and beneficial for your skin. This product is supposed to be ideal for enlarged pores, and reduces fine lines and minizes wrinkles anyplace on the face. So I figured I would give it a shot.

I have to say I was very impressed with the primer, having never used one in the past. People actually had noticed a difference in my skin. This primer is called Base De Maquillace, it comes in a pretty 29 ml glass bottle with a handy pump applicator. The consistency was quite nice, it had a silky quality to it. It seemed to go on dry and did not leave an oily base on my skin. The primer actually felt very nice. After applying the primer I applied the tinted moisturizer I use everyday. I have to admit, my face actually had a nice dewey quality about it. It actually did lessen the fine lines I had around my eyes (not too close as its not an eye cream) and my forehead. My skin felt nourished and moisturized. This Makeup Primer gets a thumbs up!
